Our Honoree: Lydia Fenet

Our Honoree: Lydia Fenet

Lydia Fenet: In her own words...

In the fall of 2015, RIVER FUND launched our Frontline Force at our very first gala and inducted its inaugural honorees. Our objective: to recognize people whose dynamic support for the organization inspires and motivates others to take a strong stand as they join us in ‘taking poverty personally.’ Ever since then, Lydia Fenet has been the reinforcing energy behind the Frontline Force—as she amplifies the impact of our galas and concentrates the financial power of RIVER FUND’s dedicated family of donors toward critical needs in our communities.

This year, our gala celebrates women. The Power of Love is the essence of our Frontline Force. We therefore feel compelled to honor the woman whose power has been essential to the effectiveness of the Frontline Force from its inception. We are inducting Lydia Fenet as a most deserving addition to this special group of incredible members of the RIVER FUND Family.

Not only has she helped the RIVER FUND raise hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past five transformative years of our organization, she dedicates much of her time and talent to support and empower women and charities across the country. We share her belief that all it takes is a room full of people—and then it takes just one person to energize that room to achieve astounding feats:
Love can do it.

Lydia Fenet’s unique talent—as the ultimate, world-class auctioneer—has elevated her to the position of Managing Director and Global Director of Strategic Partnerships at Christie’s. Beyond that, over the past two decades, she has risen to become the leading benefit auctioneer in the country—having raised over half a billion dollars for more than 400 non-profits worldwide, including the RIVER FUND, Tipping Point (a poverty-fighting organization in San Francisco), AMFAR, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, and New Yorkers for Children. Since leading her first charity auction in 2001, Lydia has taken 70-100 auctions per year. She has trained all of Christie’s benefit auctioneers for the past seven years, and her auctioneering achievements continue to be featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Vogue, Crain’s, Elle, Vanity Fair, WWD, Vogue.com, and WorkingMother.com.

Lydia travels around the country to coach corporations and groups in “The Art of Selling”—and to speak about her first book, The Most Powerful Woman in the Room is You, published by Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster) in spring 2019. It continues to be a top seller on Amazon. You can follow her auctions, antics and anecdotes on Instagram @LydiaFenet #ownyourpower—or you can join us on November 21 and watch this woman singlehandedly, with the power of love, electrify a room of 700 people.

Your too can be a RIVER FUND love champion. Imagine the effects on the frontline...
